My finger's finally free!
Just so you can all rest easy, I got my wedding band cut off this morning at a jewelry store. It was weird. My hand breathed a little sigh of relief... although there is still a distinct mark indented in my skin where my symbol of eternal devotion used to rest. What's really strange is that my right hand hurts more than my left hand, and I have no rings on my right at all...

So what happens to your wedding band now? Can they put it back together for you to where after the baby is born?
Yep- for a small fee...I will go in there in a couple of months when I'm all normal again and they will fix it up for me...
I always wondered about the ring cutting as well.
And, let me tell you, you will never be normal again. EVER.
That seems like it would be slightly traumatic. How do they cut it? Little tiny snips? Little tiny saw? High tech laser beam?
Well- it was sort of a snipper type instrument - kind of scissory but curvy and raspy and sawy...Yes- these adjectives are so helpful, I'm sure. Amazingly, it actually wormed its way between the ring and my finger...I was like, "How did he find space between the two?! It was a tad uncomfortable, but WAY preferable to getting it off the other way....
Yes, far more enjoyable than cutting your finger off I'm sure. :)
"Free at last, free at last, Thank God I'm free at last!"
My hat is off to anonymous for the clever and witty allusion. I laughed out loud.
