Poised for the Plunge

Well, my friends, I start my new job next week. On Tuesday, to be precise. Monday will be taken up with CPR and First Aid class at the local chapter of the Red Cross. ( Required for the job.) I'm a little nervous but also pretty excited. I lie awake at night and think about the job; my eating habits have been majorly affected- I have no appetite. I'll be glad when this newness all wears off and things settle into a routine. The first few days will be sort of a "getting to know you" type of thing, so we probably won't be doing a whole lot of actual work.

In preparation for starting, I went shopping the other day at a local second hand bookstore (what JOY!); my mission was JUST to look for children's books and I bought several, including a Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle book, which I was especially deLIGHTed to find. I also spent a lot of time at the library...in the children's section! What a hoot! I hadn't spent so much time in a children's section since I was a child. And the weird thing was, I recognized some of the books! I mean- not just generic old favorites like Charlotte's Web but actual particular, somewhat obscure books that I had checked out when we lived in McDonough in the early 90's. We went to this library ( which was in a different building then, but contained many of the same books) and I was 12 and 13 years old at the time; but because it's in a different location now, I had forgotten that it is essentially the same library. It was so neat!

As I was checking out a small pile of books, I noticed a sign at the desk that said, "Unattended children will be given an espresso and a free puppy." It made me smile.

I've seen signs like those too, and sincerely wished with all my heart that they would follow through on such promises.

so congrats on starting and will be praying that everything goes SMOOTH[as a baby's bottom, hahahaa]

There's a restaurant in town that has the same sign regarding children running loose. :) I love that. :)

How many people in your family have blogs? More than 3? Because that's how many I now check in on every so often. My latest Claire's Family's Blogs "discovery," Aaron's, has that picture of your faces put together. Besides being really cool and maybe just a little...not, creepy, but definitely interesting...it made me wonder what your kids will look like. And I almost want to ask Russell to shave off his beard so we can do that. :) Almost. I'm not ready to face a different person across the breakfast table (no pun intended).

I think the only ones on my list are LJ Max and Aaron. I do go to your Flickr when I notice new, interesting pictures under the "our photos" section to the right. But I think that's it. :) I've found some of my favorite blogs by seeing who reads what and following them "home." :)

Okay Claire, I've resisted commenting till now, but with a whole week gone by I'm really in suspense: is it so bad that you couldn't even talk about it after a Sabbath? Or are you loving it so much that you've left your blogging love behind? Or are you just drowning in the newness and busyness and adjustingness of it all...I may have to break down and email you.
